NH&SCVS Breakaway Playschemes

We work with children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

NH&SCVS Breakaway Playschemes create opportunities for social interaction between children and young people with special needs, through different mediums of play in a safe, supportive, fun environment. We aim to promote equality and diversity in all our activities. We encourage inclusion by offering support to enable children and young people to play.

Saturday playschemes are held once a month during term time at Greenside School in Stevenage and once a month at Woolgrove School in Letchworth Garden City. 

Breakaway Holiday Club takes place during the school holidays at Greenside School.

We run during February half term, the Easter holidays, May half term, the summer holiday, October half term and during the Christmas break.

• The morning session is for children aged 5-11, from 9.00am until 12pm
• The afternoon session is for children aged 12-19, from 1pm until 4.00pm

The cost is £3.50 per hour (£10.50 per session), payable in advance upon receipt of an invoice.

Breakaway Complex Needs is tailored for children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and complex needs. This club runs in the holidays at Greenside School between 10am and 3pm and the cost is £3.50 per hour (£17.50 per session).

Breakaway Staff

Tina Gillett is our Breakaway Manager and, before being promoted to the role in April 2025, worked as a Play Leader on Breakaway Playschemes for over 7 years.

Tina brings with her a wealth of experience of working with children with SEND and Complex Needs. 

The playschemes are staffed with many experienced team members working as Leaders, Deputies and Play Assistants. The office is manned on a part time basis by Lucy.
